It was good news for everyone on Saturday as following some light early-morning drizzle, the temperature rose and just a gentle breeze offered the 70 players who had made the cut the opportunity to shine. Of those starting early, two who made good progress before lunch were Scotland's David Drysdale and world number 38, Simon Dyson, each of whom carded a 68. Perhaps the best of the breakfast-time starters was Australian Ashley Hall who recorded a fine 66 which contained no fewer than eight birdies.

As play ended for the day, the leaderboard remained tightly grouped with ten players within six shots of Grace. It would seem that there are several players in with a realistic chance although it might be that Grace will have to help them out a little. With the temperature set to rise further tomorrow and the breeze likely to be even more golf-friendly, all is in place for what will hopefully be a feast of birdies and a very exciting conclusion to this, the 18th Volvo China Open.
